Christian Women Craft Night Part 3 Christmas Gift Baskets
Looking for a Christmas gathering where your women can make something personal to give away? This Christian women craft night brings your ministry group or friends together to create Christmas gift baskets. Each woman will choose someone to encourage, decorate a basket or gift container, and make a Scripture card and tag. She can take her finished container home and fill it with thoughtfully chosen items afterward.
A basket is a welcoming project for women with different crafting experience. Some will enjoy adding layers of paper and ribbon; others may choose a simple bow and a handwritten card. Set out shared supplies, open your Bibles, and give everyone time to make her gift her own. The free Christmas Planner will help with the giving decisions, while the Gift Basket Ideas and Checklist will offer suggestions for filling the basket at home.

Give With Someone in Mind
Our theme is sharing Christ’s love through thoughtful giving.
Begin with:
“We love because he first loved us”
1 John 4:19(ESV)
This verse gives our evening its starting point. God’s love comes first, and we can respond by caring for the people around us.
For a Christmas reading, add Luke 2:10–11. The angel announces the birth of Jesus, our Savior, Christ the Lord. Let the group take a moment to remember Him before turning to gift ideas. A basket is a practical way to encourage someone as we celebrate the Savior who came into the world.
Ask each woman to choose a recipient. It might be a friend, a neighbor, or someone in her church who would welcome a little encouragement. Thinking about one person helps her choose a useful container, a personal message, and eventually the contents. A woman who enjoys journaling may appreciate a notebook and pen; another may prefer tea and a warm pair of socks.
Keep the spending plan comfortable. A small container with a few carefully chosen items can be complete. Each participant can decide what fits her resources without announcing a budget to the group.
Prepare Before the Gathering
Share the Free Planning Resources
Send the Christmas Planner link with your invitation. Encourage each woman to sign up and print the giving pages she wants to use. As the host, review the packet beforehand so you can point out the existing forms that fit the activity. The planner supports the gift decisions; the group’s creative project is the basket.
Share the Christmas Gift Basket Ideas and Checklist and extras as well. Women can look through the contents suggestions ahead of time, but they do not need to purchase gifts before craft night. They will make and decorate their containers together, then gather the contents at home.
Gather the Supplies
- The free Christmas Planner giving pages and the Gift Basket Ideas and Checklist.
- An empty basket, sturdy gift bag, or reusable box for each woman.
- Cardstock or paper for Scripture cards, bookmarks, and gift tags.
- Christmas paper scraps, ribbon, or other simple decorations.
- Pens, scissors, tape, and glue suitable for the chosen container.
- Tissue paper or a simple liner, plus an ESV Bible for the reading.
A container does not have to be new. A clean basket or sturdy box you already own can work well. Check that it is large enough for the kind of gifts you have in mind and easy to carry. Keep heavier decorations to a minimum so the finished container remains useful.
Prepare one decorated example to show the group. Make a few blank tags and pre-cut paper pieces for women who would find them helpful. Let participants know whether they should bring their own containers or whether you will supply them. Gift contents are added later, so no one needs to arrive with a full basket.

A Simple 90 Minute Craft Night
Plan for one decorated container, one Scripture card, and one gift tag per woman. The short planning time helps her personalize the project; she can finish choosing the gift contents at home.
- Welcome — 15 minutes. Greet everyone, show the sample basket, and introduce the supplies.
- Devotion — 10 minutes. Read 1 John 4:19 and Luke 2:10–11, then reflect on thoughtful giving.
- Craft — 45 minutes. Choose a recipient, begin a giving form, decorate the container, and make a card and tag.
- Sharing — 15 minutes. Show the finished containers and discuss a few questions.
- Prayer — 5 minutes. Thank God for His love and pray for the people who will receive the gifts.
Your invitation could say: “Join us for a Christmas gift basket craft night. We will decorate empty gift containers and make Scripture cards and tags. Bring your Bible, a pen, and an empty basket, gift bag, or sturdy box. We will share paper decorations and use a free planner to begin our giving ideas. You can fill your basket at home afterward.” Add your date, location, and freebie links before sending.
A Short Devotion to Begin
Read 1 John 4:19 aloud and ask, “What does this verse tell us about where our love begins?” Allow a few responses. Then read Luke 2:10–11 and remember the good news of our Savior’s birth. Keep the focus on God’s love before discussing what each woman will make.
You might continue: “Tonight we are choosing someone to encourage. We can think about what she enjoys, write a personal message, and prepare a gift that fits her life. As we celebrate Jesus, we can ask Him to help us notice people and respond with care.”
A gift does not need to carry an expectation that the recipient will do something in return. Let kindness be freely offered. A woman may make her basket for someone close to her or for someone she wants to get to know better. Give her space to decide without asking her to explain the recipient’s private circumstances.

The group will finish a decorated gift container ready to fill at home. Use the planner for the giving decisions and the basket guide for contents inspiration. You can follow these steps with a basket, bag, or box.
Resource: Use the free Christmas Planner to note your recipient and giving ideas. Get the Christmas Gift Basket Ideas and Checklist for suggested items to add after the gathering, as well as items to fill in or decorate during group.
Step 1 Choose Your Recipient and Theme
On a planner giving form, write the recipient’s name and a few ideas about what she might enjoy. Choose a theme such as Scripture and quiet time, Christmas comfort, creative journaling, or practical encouragement. Leave room to add details later.
Use the guide’s item lists as suggestions. A Scripture basket might include a journal, pen, and handmade bookmark. A comfort basket might hold tea or cocoa, socks, and a favorite snack. Choose a theme that suits the person, then decide what can fit your budget and container.
Step 2 Decorate the Empty Container
Arrange a few paper pieces or a length of ribbon before attaching them. For a basket, tie ribbon around the handle or rim. For a box or gift bag, add a paper panel or decorative border. Keep handles clear and leave the opening easy to use when you add gifts later.
Use tape, ties, or glue suited to the surface, and let glued decorations dry before moving the container. A simple paper star and ribbon can be enough. Add tissue or a plain liner if you would like, while leaving space for the contents you will gather at home.

Step 3 Make a Scripture Card or Bookmark
Cut a small cardstock rectangle and decorate the edges using the blanks included in the Christmas Basket Freebie Bundle. Copy 1 John 4:19, "We love because he first loved us." from your ESV Bible, or choose another encouraging verse. Leave the Scripture easy to read. On the back, add your name and a personal message for the recipient.
Try a sentence such as “I am thankful for the way you…” or “I wanted you to know I am thinking of you this Christmas.” Include a specific kindness or quality you appreciate. A few sincere words can help the gift feel personal.
Step 4 Add a Handmade Gift Tag
Cut a tag from cardstock, write the recipient’s name, and add a short greeting, included in the Christmas Basket Freebie Bundle. Attach it with ribbon or tape. Tuck your Scripture card inside the container so it stays with the project. If the giving date is still undecided, leave that detail for your planner.

Use the planner’s existing giving form to list what you already have, what you need to gather, and when you want to deliver the basket. The guide also includes a basket checklist if you want to keep those details together. Choose one next action you can take this week.
If your group is making one shared basket, agree on the recipient and divide the contents list for gathering the items afterward. Women can contribute in different ways, including decorating, writing a card, or adding a gift later. Keep the arrangement clear so several people do not bring the same item.
Consider a trinket available on our Website at www.YOUMinistries.com on our Products and Services page. Here are some examples (there are many other items to choose from as well depending on your target audience):
- Bible Verse bracelet — Colorful, lightweight silicone bracelets with Bible verses. Bracelet selection is random.

- Armor of God keychain— An acrylic gold-and-black design with Ephesians 6:10–18.

- Emergency Bible Verse bookmark — Vintage-style bookmarks with Scripture references for different concerns.

- Gemstone cross necklace — A natural gemstone cross on an 18-inch necklace. Stone color is random.

Questions for Sharing
Invite women to show their containers and share only the details they are comfortable discussing. Choose a few questions for the table rather than trying to answer them all.
- What does 1 John 4:19 help you remember about giving?
- Which basket theme did you choose, and how does it fit your recipient?
- What could you include that uses something you already have or can make?
- What would you like your personal note to communicate?
- What is your first step toward filling and delivering the basket?
Keep the Activity Welcoming
Show one simple example and let women choose their own level of decoration. Provide pre-cut pieces for anyone who needs them, and offer help with attaching ribbon or writing a card. Someone who prefers plain paper can finish a meaningful project with a handwritten tag and one small decoration.
Avoid making the contents list a shopping requirement. The guide gives options to choose from, and each woman can adapt them. If time runs short, finish the card and tag and take extra decorations home. A useful container with a personal message meets the purpose of the night.
Fill and Give Your Basket at Home
Return to the guide’s item lists after craft night and choose the gifts that suit your recipient. Consider food preferences and dietary needs, and keep packaged items in their original wrappers so ingredient labels remain available. Practical gifts, handmade pieces, and a personal note can be mixed in whatever way fits your plan.
Place taller items toward the back and smaller ones in front. Use tissue or other simple filler to keep them steady, and make sure the card is easy to find. Wrap the filled basket if you wish, then check your planner for the delivery date. If you promised practical help, arrange a time you can follow through on.

Optional Ministry Gifts for Your Basket
A gemstone cross necklace can be one small item to add if it suits your recipient. It has a natural gemstone cross pendant on an 18-inch necklace and costs $0.68 each plus shipping, while supplies last. Stone selection is random. It is optional; choose the contents that fit the person and your spending plan.
Close With Prayer
Lord, thank You for loving us first and for sending Jesus, our Savior. Help us notice people we can encourage this Christmas. Give us wisdom about our time and resources, and guide the words we write in our cards. Please care for each person who will receive these gifts, and help us offer kindness freely. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Make Something Personal to Give
Your Christmas craft night can begin with a Bible reading, empty containers, and a basket of shared supplies. Use the free planner to start the giving decisions, then enjoy making Scripture cards, tags, and decorations together. Each woman can leave with something new she has created for a person she wants to encourage.
The remaining steps can happen at home. Choose a few contents from the guide, finish packing the gift, and arrange the delivery. Keep the project manageable enough that the basket actually reaches its recipient. A thoughtful gift and a sincere note can be a simple expression of care during the Christmas season. Choose your date, share the free resources, and welcome your women to the table.
