Jesus and Little Children – Embracing Innocence, Simplicity, and the Kingdom of Heaven

In Matthew 19:13-15, we witness a beautiful moment that speaks volumes about Jesus' character and the nature of God's kingdom. Picture this: Jesus, surrounded by his disciples, is approached by parents bringing their little ones for a blessing. It's a simple scene but filled with profound meaning.

What happens next is telling. The disciples, perhaps thinking they were protecting Jesus' time and energy, try to send the children away. But Jesus quickly corrects them with words that have echoed through centuries: "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

I love this passage because it reveals Jesus' heart so clearly. While others saw the children as distractions, Jesus saw them as valuable and worthy of attention. He not only welcomed them but held them up as examples of how we should approach God's kingdom!

Think about a child's natural qualities: their trust, openness, wonder, and humility. These aren't childish traits to outgrow—they're childlike qualities Jesus invites us to embrace. When was the last time you approached God with the simple trust of a child?
