Biblical Exorcism

devil exorcism god Feb 15, 2021

Today’s topic is about Exorcism. This practice is known for evicting demons or other negative entities from a person, a place or even an object that is believed to be possessed.

These phenomena have been taking place in ancient times, and Roman Catholic priests are known for driving demons away from the subject. But today, this practice is rarely talked about in churches.

God is Omnipotent

We want readers to believe that God can do everything, but often forget about such things as exorcism, which is casting away demons inside us. But it doesn’t mean we have to be possessed by an evil spirit, because this may be relevant to a person who is feeling depressed or has been thinking about very deep destructive thoughts.

Witnessing God’s Powers

During Jesus time on earth, He has revealed countless signs and wonders that adds evidence that He was indeed Christ, the Son of God. And, one of these signs was when He was casting the devil out, or what some call "evil spirits" that had taken over someone's physical body.

Wicked Things

People's perspective of being possessed is that a person probably has no faith in God or those that are fanatics about the devil. But that’s not true. Even a devoted servant of Christ can be attacked by an unwanted spirits.

Few people may not be aware of the stories about exorcism in the Bible. Of course, we Christian would not seek such topics and would rather read God’s miracles, promises, and good deeds.

There may be a reason as to why this kind of practice has been  mentioned in the Bible, and we’ll be sharing with you some thoughts about it. We will be discussing some features of the exorcisms accomplished by Jesus and learn the good side.

 Catching Demons

Here is a story about a couple who are well known as demonologist Ed and Lorraine Warren. They are famous in exorcism and they even have a museum of the object they’ve conjured.

Their story has been made popular for the film ''The Conjuring''. The film is based on a true story of the Perron Family. They have moved into their lovely farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island in 1971, and after that they immediately notice strange things happening inside the house.

They heard strange noises, some of the object are moving on their own, and they even encountered smelling a rotten fish (this is one of the creepiest thing to experience, as to others it means that something bad is going to happen).

Andrea Perron, one of the daughters, has made a book regarding their paranormal experiences. The book is called ''House of Darkness House of Light''.

Despite this, they manage to stay in the house for over a decade. But the question is why did they stay? According to her interview, she said that they LOVE the farm, because of the beautiful scenery and the place looks enchanted.

What can we learn from this? It has not mentioned much about Christianity or about how they yielded through Jesus. But one thing is they accepted that flaw regardless of the situation and had a little faith with each other, that they will endure any activities that's haunting them every single day.

Our Powerful Jesus

As with his healings, Jesus commands the demons to leave without summoning authority. In the first century, it has been very common for exorcists use powerful names in order to force demons out. In the Bible, both the names Jesus and Paul were used as “power names” to cast out demons.

Unlike Catholic Priest, that has been performing exorcist that needs a lot of enchantment or even resources to cast away a spirit. Jesus simply relies on his external superiority, making him the first captivating exorcist.

A Little Faith Is Enough

There is a story in the Bible about a boy whose father believes he has been possessed by the demon and also tackles how Jesus disciples truly have a faith in Him.

One day, a father is trying to get help for His son. He wanted to go to Jesus and asked him to heal the boy. But the disciples have decided they will perform the exorcism themselves.

This selfish act leads them to have not having faith in Jesus to heal the boy, and because of that they did not succeed on the mission.

When they came to Jesus, the father begged so hard to him, but at first Jesus has been distressed. 'You unbelieving and perverse generation,''' Jesus replied, ''how long shall I stay with you and put up with you? Bring your son here''. (Luke 9:41)

Jesus said that everything is possible for those who believes in Him. And the father exclaimed ''I do believe! help me overcome my unbelief.'' (Mark 9:24)  The boy's father's words here are full of honesty. He wants to trust Jesus, even when he struggles with doubt and fear. So he tells Jesus that his intentions are good and asks for the help he needs.

Jesus then tells his disciples that if they approach a challenge with just a bit of faith in prayer, that faith will grow and will become powerful enough to accomplish anything.

Exorcism today

Unworldly things, is a matter of the heart remaining it free from impurity. Such impurity we call sin. Exorcist tells us that the most important way to guard ourselves out of the extraordinary demonic influence is to resist the temptation.

For this the “armor of God,” consists of faith, prayer and the atonements.  If we live our lives ful of faith, we’ll be protected from those evil.  are living a faith-filled, sacramental life we will be protected from evil.

Put On The Whole Armor

Incomplete armor would leave us dangerously vulnerable.  If a soldier were to leave behind one of his armor, the breastplate, boots, shield or his helmet or his sword, his enemies could easily target the place where he had failed to protect himself.

The same goes to the spiritual armor: Righteousness, Peace, Salvation, Truth, Faith and The Word of God. Each piece is very important and essential. Leaving one behind will make us completely flawed.

So don’t make yourself vulnerable.  “Put on the WHOLE armor of God’’

Jesus Always Wins

We should believe that Jesus is capable in helping us on our struggles, problems, or anything that hurts us. We just have to put a little faith in Him.

It may not be resolved in a quick manner but believe me, God is has a purpose for keeping you waiting. And it is for your greater good.
