Faithful Through Every Season

god’s faithfulness seasons of abundance seasons of growth seasons of waiting Oct 17, 2026

There’s something about looking back that can change the way we see the present.

Sometimes we look back and remember the hard things.

The disappointments.

The prayers that took longer than we expected.

The seasons we didn't understand.

The moments when we wondered if God was really listening.

But if we slow down long enough, we may notice something else.

God was there.

He was there when we didn't understand.

He was there when we were waiting.

He was there when the answer finally came.

He was there in the beginning.

He was there in the middle.

And He is still here now.

I don't know about you, but I need those reminders.

Because sometimes we forget what God has done when we're focused on what we're waiting for Him to do next.

That's why remembering matters.

It helps us look back and say:

“God has been faithful.”

And if He has been faithful before, we can trust Him with the season we're walking through today.

Every Season Tells a Story

Life has seasons.

Some are joyful.

Some are quiet.

Some are full of change.

Some are full of waiting.

Some feel like growth.

Others feel like pruning.

There are seasons when everything seems to be moving forward.

And there are seasons when we wonder if anything is happening at all.

But God is not only God of the good seasons.

He is God of every season.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us:

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”

Every season has a purpose.

And God is present in all of them.

The God Who Was Faithful Then Is Faithful Now

One of the most comforting truths in Scripture is that God's character doesn't change.

Our circumstances change.

Our emotions change.

Our plans change.

People change.

But God remains faithful.

Hebrews 13:8 says:

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

Yesterday.

Today.

Forever.

Think about that for a moment.

The Jesus who met people in their pain is still compassionate today.

The God who provided for His people is still our Provider.

The God who guided Israel is still able to guide us.

The God who kept His promises then can be trusted with the promises we are waiting on now.

Remember What God Has Done

Throughout Scripture, God's people were told to remember.

Again and again.

Remember.

Tell your children.

Build a memorial.

Sing about it.

Write it down.

Pass the stories on.

Why?

Because people forget.

We forget what God has done when the next challenge comes.

We remember the mountain in front of us and forget the mountains God already helped us climb.

So God lovingly calls His people back to remembrance.

Not because He needs us to remember for His sake.

Because we need to remember for ours.

“Remember the Former Things”

Isaiah 46:9 says:

“Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other.”

God invites His people to look backward.

Remember.

Look at what I have done.

Remember who I am.

Remember that I am not like everything else around you.

Sometimes the quickest way to strengthen our faith for today is to remember God's faithfulness yesterday.

Think About Your Own Story

Take a moment with me.

Where has God been faithful?

Maybe you can remember a time when you had no idea how something would work out.

And somehow, it did.

Maybe you were afraid.

And God gave you strength.

Maybe you were grieving.

And He carried you.

Maybe you needed provision.

And He provided.

Maybe you were confused.

And He eventually gave you direction.

Maybe you were waiting for years.

And the answer finally came.

Or maybe the answer never came in the way you expected, but God met you in the waiting.

That counts too.

God's faithfulness isn't only found in the outcomes we wanted.

Sometimes it's found in the strength He gave us to keep walking.

The Israelites Had a Lot to Remember

The Israelites experienced God's faithfulness in remarkable ways.

He delivered them from Egypt.

He parted the Red Sea.

He provided manna.

He guided them with a cloud by day and fire by night.

He brought water from a rock.

He led them through the wilderness.

And yet, they often forgot.

They saw a new problem and immediately wondered:

“Can God help us with this?”

It sounds almost unbelievable.

But then again, don't we do the same thing?

God answers one prayer.

Then a new problem comes.

And suddenly we wonder if He'll be faithful again.

The Next Season Can Make Us Forget the Last

This is one reason remembering matters.

A new season brings new questions.

And new questions can make us forget old answers.

You may have seen God provide before.

But now you're facing a different need.

You may have seen Him guide you before.

But now you don't know which way to go.

You may have experienced His peace before.

But now you're anxious again.

The new season doesn't erase the old faithfulness.

God hasn't changed.

Build Your Own Memorial Stones

In Joshua 4, the Israelites crossed the Jordan River on dry ground.

Afterward, God instructed them to take twelve stones from the river and set them up as a memorial.

Why?

So that when future generations asked:

“What do these stones mean?”

They could tell the story.

God had done something here.

These stones were reminders.

I love that.

Because sometimes we need our own “stones.”

Not literal ones.

But reminders.

A journal.

A note on your phone.

A prayer journal.

A list of answered prayers.

Photos.

Letters.

Scriptures.

Anything that helps you remember:

“God did this.”

Keep a Faithfulness Journal

Here's a simple practice you can start today.

Get a notebook and title the first page:

God Has Been Faithful.

Then begin writing.

Write down the things you remember.

Don't worry about making it beautiful.

Just be honest.

“God provided when I didn't know how.”

“God gave me strength during that season.”

“God brought this person into my life at the right time.”

“God answered this prayer.”

“God gave me peace when I was afraid.”

“God carried me when I couldn't carry myself.”

Keep adding to the list.

One day, you'll be grateful you did.

Remembering Doesn't Mean You Live in the Past

Sometimes we think looking backward means we're stuck.

It doesn't.

There is a difference between living in the past and remembering God's faithfulness.

We don't look back because we want to stay there.

We look back so we can walk forward with confidence.

David remembered what God had done when he faced Goliath.

The Israelites remembered the Exodus.

The early church remembered the resurrection.

We remember because the past gives us courage for the present.

David Remembered Before the Battle

When David stood before Goliath, everyone else saw the size of the giant.

David remembered something else.

God had already helped him fight a lion and a bear.

That history mattered.

David knew:

“God helped me before.

He can help me now.”

The giant was new.

God wasn't.

That's worth remembering.

Maybe your current battle is new too.

But the God beside you isn't.

What Has God Already Carried You Through?

Think about the seasons you once thought would break you.

You're here.

Maybe not unchanged.

Maybe not with every question answered.

But you're here.

And God carried you.

There were days you didn't think you had enough strength.

He gave you enough for that day.

There were moments you didn't know what to do.

He gave you the next step.

There were times you felt alone.

He met you there.

Don't minimize that.

That is part of your testimony.

Faithfulness Doesn't Always Look Like an Easy Life

We have to be careful not to define God's faithfulness by comfort.

God can be faithful in a hard season.

He can be faithful when the answer is no.

He can be faithful when the door closes.

He can be faithful when we're waiting.

He can be faithful when we're grieving.

He can be faithful when we're confused.

Because faithfulness means He keeps being who He is.

Not that He gives us everything we want.

Jesus Is Our Greatest Reminder

When we need the clearest evidence of God's faithfulness, we look to Jesus.

God promised redemption.

And He fulfilled it.

Jesus came.

Jesus lived.

Jesus died.

Jesus rose again.

The cross reminds us that God keeps His promises.

Romans 5:8 says:

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

While we were still sinners.

God moved toward us.

He didn't wait for us to become worthy.

He showed His love through Jesus.

Remember the Cross

When you doubt whether God is faithful, look at the cross.

Not your circumstances.

Not your feelings.

Not what happened today.

Look at Jesus.

The cross is proof that God's love is not theoretical.

He gave Himself for us.

And the resurrection reminds us that death does not get the final word.

That's the foundation underneath our hope.

What About the Seasons You Didn't Understand?

Maybe you have a season you still don't understand.

Something happened that you wish hadn't.

A prayer wasn't answered the way you hoped.

A relationship ended.

A door closed.

Someone you loved walked away.

A dream didn't happen.

You may never have every answer.

And that's hard.

But you can still say:

“God, I don't understand this.

But I trust that You are still God.”

Faith doesn't require us to understand everything.

It asks us to trust Someone who does.

God Was Faithful in the Waiting

Sometimes we only recognize God's faithfulness once the season is over.

Looking back, we see things we couldn't see while we were in it.

A lesson.

A relationship.

A protection.

A new direction.

A deeper dependence on God.

Sometimes the blessing wasn't the thing we were asking for.

Sometimes the blessing was what God was growing in us.

Seasons of Growth

Think about a tree.

There are seasons when you can see obvious growth.

Leaves.

Flowers.

Fruit.

And then there are seasons when the tree looks quiet.

Bare.

Still.

But quiet doesn't mean dead.

Roots can still be growing.

Life can still be happening beneath the surface.

Maybe your spiritual life feels quiet right now.

Don't assume God is absent.

Maybe He's growing roots.

Deep things often take time.

Seasons of Waiting

Waiting can feel like wasted time.

But Scripture shows us otherwise.

Abraham waited.

Joseph waited.

David waited.

Israel waited for the Messiah.

And God was faithful.

Waiting doesn't mean God has forgotten you.

It may mean the story isn't finished yet.

Seasons of Abundance

There are also seasons when everything seems to be going well.

Those seasons need gratitude too.

It's easy to enjoy God's blessings without remembering the One who gave them.

Deuteronomy 8 warns God's people not to forget Him when they prosper.

When life is full, remember.

When life is hard, remember.

When the prayer is answered, remember.

When you're still waiting, remember.

Remember God.

Gratitude Helps Us Remember

This is where gratitude becomes so important.

Gratitude trains our hearts to notice.

Instead of rushing through the day, we pause.

Instead of focusing only on what's missing, we notice what's present.

Instead of saying:

“God hasn't done anything.”

We begin saying:

“Wait.

Look what He has already done.”

That's a powerful shift.

Start With Three Things

If gratitude feels difficult right now, keep it simple.

Every evening, write down three things you're thankful for.

They don't have to be big.

“Thank You for this conversation.”

“Thank You for my morning coffee.”

“Thank You for giving me strength today.”

“Thank You for this Scripture.”

“Thank You for a safe trip.”

“Thank You for another day.”

Over time, you'll begin to see patterns.

God has been providing.

God has been sustaining.

God has been present.

Don't Forget the Small Things

We sometimes remember the big miracles and overlook the quiet mercies.

But God's faithfulness isn't only found in dramatic moments.

Sometimes it looks like waking up with enough strength to get through the day.

Sometimes it looks like a friend checking in.

Sometimes it looks like a peaceful night's sleep.

Sometimes it looks like a door that didn't open.

Sometimes it looks like having exactly what you need.

Small mercies are still mercies.

Tell Someone What God Has Done

Psalm 78 speaks about telling the next generation the works of God.

Your story matters.

Maybe your children need to hear it.

Maybe your grandchildren will need to hear it.

Maybe a friend needs to know how God carried you.

You don't have to have a dramatic testimony.

“God helped me through a difficult season” is enough.

“God provided when I didn't know how” is enough.

“God gave me peace” is enough.

Tell the story.

Give God the glory.

Your Testimony Can Become Someone Else's Reminder

You never know who needs to hear:

“God was faithful to me.”

Your story may help someone else keep going.

Your answered prayer may encourage someone else's waiting.

Your experience of God's provision may give someone else hope.

We don't share our stories because our lives are perfect.

We share because God is faithful.

Journal Prompts for Remembering God's Faithfulness

Take some time today and write through these questions:

What is one season when I clearly saw God's faithfulness?

What prayer has God answered in my life?

Where did God provide when I didn't know how He would?

What difficult season has God already carried me through?

What Scripture reminds me of His faithfulness?

What am I waiting for right now?

How can remembering God's past faithfulness help me trust Him today?

What small blessing can I thank Him for today?

Who could I encourage by sharing part of my testimony?

What do I never want to forget about God's faithfulness?

Don't rush these.

Some memories may bring tears.

That's okay.

Let them remind you.

A Prayer of Remembering

Lord,

Thank You for every season.

Thank You for the seasons I loved and the seasons I struggled through.

Thank You for the times I understood what You were doing.

And thank You for the times I didn't.

When I look back, help me see Your faithfulness.

Remind me of the prayers You answered.

Remind me of the doors You opened.

Remind me of the doors You closed.

Remind me of the moments You gave me strength.

Remind me of the people You sent.

Remind me of the times You provided.

And when I face something new, help me remember that You are not new to this.

You have been faithful before.

You are faithful today.

And You will be faithful tomorrow.

Forgive me for the times I forget.

Help me become a woman who remembers.

Who notices.

Who gives thanks.

Who tells the story of Your goodness.

Thank You for Jesus.

Thank You for the cross.

Thank You for the resurrection.

Thank You that Your faithfulness does not depend on my circumstances.

You are faithful because that is who You are.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

Make Remembering Part of Your Routine

You don't need to create a complicated spiritual practice.

Maybe every Sunday evening you look back over the week.

Ask:

“Where did I see God?”

Maybe every morning you write one thing you're thankful for.

Maybe you keep a prayer journal.

Maybe you take a few minutes before bed to remember God's goodness.

Whatever works for you, begin.

The goal isn't to check another spiritual box.

The goal is to become more aware of God.

When You Forget, Remember Again

You will forget.

I will too.

That's part of being human.

But when you realize you've been focused on fear, come back.

When you've been focused on what you don't have, come back.

When you've been questioning God's goodness, come back.

Remember.

Not because everything is perfect.

But because God is faithful.

God Has Been Faithful Through Every Season

Look back over your life.

You may see things you wish were different.

You may see moments you wouldn't choose again.

But perhaps you can also see God's fingerprints.

A door.

A person.

A Scripture.

A provision.

A protection.

A strength you didn't know you had.

A peace you can't explain.

A moment when you knew:

“God is with me.”

Remember those moments.

Write them down.

Give thanks.

It's a simple way to pause and intentionally look for God's blessings each day.

You can use it during your quiet time, with your family, or at the end of your day.

Sometimes we don't need more blessings.

We need to become more aware of the ones already surrounding us.

Let this little challenge help you slow down, notice, and give thanks.

If you love creating intentional spaces to slow down, reflect, and connect with God, I also want to invite you to learn more about Whispers of Autumn.

You Have a Story of God's Faithfulness

Maybe you don't feel like you have a testimony.

But you do.

You have a story.

There are moments when God carried you.

There are prayers you prayed.

There are things He taught you.

There are blessings you didn't expect.

There are seasons you survived by His grace.

Don't dismiss them because they seem ordinary.

God is faithful in ordinary places too.

Keep Looking Back

When the next season comes, don't forget this one.

When you move forward, remember what God did here.

When another difficult season begins, look back at His faithfulness.

When a blessing arrives, give thanks.

When you don't understand, remember.

When you feel afraid, remember.

When you feel alone, remember.

God has been faithful.

And He has not changed.

Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Maybe this is the truth you need to carry with you today:

God was faithful yesterday.

God is faithful today.

God will be faithful tomorrow.

You don't have to know what tomorrow holds.

You simply need to remember who holds it.

So take a moment.

Look back.

Remember His goodness.

Count the blessings.

Tell the story.

And then turn toward the future with a quiet confidence.

Not because you know exactly what is coming.

But because you know the One who is already there.

God is faithful through every season.

And He always will be.
