Adam: The First Man and the Beginning of Our Story
Feb 12, 2026
Have you ever considered how much of your story began with one man?
Before there was sin…
Before there was shame…
Before there was striving…
There was Adam.
In our first Genesis character study, we step into the garden and take a closer look at the life of the first man created by God. Adam’s story may seem familiar, even simple at first glance — but when we slow down and truly walk through it, we discover that his life carries enormous weight for all of humanity.
If we want to understand redemption, we must begin at the beginning.
Why Study Adam?
Adam was created directly by God from the dust of the ground and given life by the breath of God (Genesis 2:7). He walked in perfect fellowship with the Lord. He was given responsibility, authority, meaningful work, and a covenant command.
And then came a choice.
Adam’s decision in the garden did not just affect his own life — it altered the course of history. Through him, sin entered the world. Through him, death followed. His story explains why the world feels broken and why we so deeply need a Savior.
But Adam’s life also points forward — to what Scripture calls the “second Adam,” Jesus Christ.
This is not just a historical study.
It is a foundation study.
