A Verse for Seasons of Change

autumn bible study bible verses god is faithful seasons Jun 29, 2026

One of the most beloved verses about seasons comes from Ecclesiastes:

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven." — Ecclesiastes 3:1

Let's slow down for a moment.

Most of us enjoy the seasons that feel comfortable.

The seasons where prayers are answered quickly.

The seasons where life feels steady and predictable.

But Scripture reminds us that every season has a purpose.

Not every season feels easy.

Not every season feels productive.

Yet God is present in them all.

If you're navigating change right now, perhaps this verse is a gentle reminder that God is not surprised by the season you're in.

He knows.

He sees.

And He is working even when the purpose isn't immediately clear.

🌾 A Verse for Seasons of Waiting

Waiting can be one of the most challenging parts of the Christian life.

We pray.

We hope.

We trust.

And sometimes we wait longer than we expected.

Isaiah offers this encouragement:

"But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles." — Isaiah 40:31

Notice what this verse doesn't say.

It doesn't promise that waiting will always be easy.

Instead, it reminds us that God meets us in the waiting.

Strength is renewed.

Hope is restored.

Faith is strengthened.

Sometimes the season of waiting is also the season where God does some of His deepest work in our hearts.

🍁 A Verse for Seasons of Growth

Growth often happens quietly.

A tree doesn't become strong overnight.

Roots develop beneath the surface long before anyone notices them.

The same is true in our faith.

Psalm 1 paints a beautiful picture:

"He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season." — Psalm 1:3

What stands out to you here?

The tree isn't striving.

It's planted.

Rooted.

Connected to its source.

That's what spiritual growth looks like.

When we stay connected to God through Scripture, prayer, and trust, He produces growth in His timing.

Not always quickly.

But faithfully.

🌻 A Verse for Seasons of Gratitude

Autumn naturally reminds many of us to give thanks.

Harvest season has long been associated with remembering God's provision and goodness.

Psalm 107:1 says:

"Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; his steadfast love endures forever!"

Gratitude doesn't require perfect circumstances.

In fact, some of our deepest gratitude often grows during difficult seasons.

When we begin paying attention, we discover evidence of God's goodness everywhere.

A prayer answered.

A door opened.

A friend who encouraged us.

A difficult day we somehow made it through.

God's goodness surrounds us more often than we realize.

🌿 A Verse for Seasons of Uncertainty

If we're honest, most of us would like a detailed map for the future.

We want answers.

Direction.

Certainty.

But God often invites us to trust Him one step at a time.

Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us:

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding."

That's not always easy.

Especially when we can't see what's ahead.

Yet God never asks us to carry the future alone.

He simply asks us to trust Him with the next step.

And over time, those faithful steps become a testimony of His guidance and provision.

🍂 A Verse for Seasons of Weariness

There are seasons when life feels heavy.

Perhaps you're carrying responsibilities that feel overwhelming.

Perhaps you're facing challenges you didn't expect.

Or maybe you're simply tired.

Jesus offers this invitation:

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28

I love the tenderness of those words.

Jesus doesn't say, "Try harder."

He doesn't say, "Carry more."

He says, "Come to Me."

Rest is found in His presence.

Strength is found in His presence.

Peace is found in His presence.

And friend, that invitation still stands today.

🌾 A Verse for Seasons of Trust

One of the most comforting promises in Scripture comes from Jeremiah:

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD." — Jeremiah 17:7

The verses that follow compare that person to a tree planted by water.

Even during drought.

Even during heat.

The tree remains steady because its roots run deep.

What a beautiful picture of faith.

Life may bring difficult seasons.

Unexpected challenges.

Times when resources feel scarce.

Yet those who place their trust in God can remain rooted because their hope is not based on circumstances.

It's based on the faithfulness of God.

🍁 A Verse for Remembering God's Faithfulness

As autumn unfolds, it's often helpful to look back and remember where God has brought us.

Lamentations 3:22–23 offers this beautiful reminder:

"The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning."

What a gift.

New mercies.

Every morning.

Not once a year.

Not once a season.

Every single day.

No matter what season you're walking through right now, God's mercy is available.

His love remains constant.

His faithfulness continues.

And His promises still stand.

🌿 What Autumn Teaches Us About God

One of the reasons I love autumn is because it reminds me that change isn't something to fear.

The trees release their leaves.

The fields complete their harvest.

The earth prepares for a new season.

And through it all, God's faithfulness remains unchanged.

The same is true in our lives.

Our circumstances may change.

Our seasons may shift.

Our plans may look different than we expected.

But God remains the same.

Faithful.

Present.

Good.

And worthy of our trust.

Perhaps that's one of the greatest lessons autumn offers us.

Not that life stays the same.

But that God does.

✍️ Reflection Questions

Take a few moments to reflect on these questions:

  • Which season of life am I currently experiencing?
  • Which of these verses speaks most deeply to my heart right now?
  • Where have I seen God's faithfulness this year?
  • What am I trusting God with in this season?
  • How can I stay rooted in Him as life continues to change?

🙏 Prayer

Father,

Thank You for the beauty of changing seasons and the reminders they bring.

Thank You that while circumstances may change, Your character never does.

Help us trust You in seasons of growth, waiting, uncertainty, and renewal.

When we feel weary, remind us that You are our rest.

When we feel uncertain, remind us that You are our guide.

When we feel discouraged, remind us that Your mercies are new every morning.

May Your Word anchor our hearts and strengthen our faith through every season of life.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

🍂 A Gentle Encouragement

Friend, whatever season you're walking through today, remember this:

God is already there.

He is present in the waiting.

Present in the growing.

Present in the harvest.

Present in the uncertainty.

And just as faithfully as He guides the changing seasons of creation, He is guiding the seasons of your life.

So open His Word.

Hold tightly to His promises.

And trust that the God who has been faithful before will be faithful again.

One season at a time. 🍂📖✨
