When You Feel Alone, a Friendship Can Mean Everything

Sometimes the most meaningful way we can share God's love is simply by showing up for someone.

For Ambyre, a season of grief and loneliness became a time when she found encouragement, friendship, and a deeper understanding of God's Word through Y.O.U. Ministries.

Her story reminds us why our prison outreach matters. We aren't simply sharing Bible study materials. We're building relationships, answering questions, and reminding people that they haven't been forgotten.

Finding Family During a Difficult Season

Ambyre had known about Jesus and the familiar stories of the Bible for much of her life. But she longed for a deeper understanding of Scripture and meaningful relationships with people who shared her faith.

She had also been walking through difficult personal circumstances. With very few friends or family members supporting her, she often felt alone.

Then she lost her grandmother.

Just one week later, a good friend introduced her to Y.O.U. Ministries.

In her own words, Ambyre described what that connection meant:

"They have become my family, my support, and my sisters in Christ."

What began as an introduction to a Bible study ministry grew into a source of friendship and encouragement during an especially important season of her life.

A Mentor Who Took the Time to Listen

One of the people Ambyre speaks about most warmly is Lisa, her Y.O.U. Ministries mentor.

Lisa didn't simply provide study materials and move on. She listened to Ambyre's questions, helped her search Scripture for answers, and remained a steady source of encouragement.

Ambyre recalls that even when Lisa didn't immediately know an answer, she would return with one, often within 24 hours.

That kind of dedication matters.

For someone trying to understand God's Word, having a person willing to listen, study, and walk alongside them can make the difference between feeling isolated and feeling supported.

Ambyre describes Lisa as someone who has been there throughout her journey and helped her grow in her relationship with Christ.

More Than Bible Study Materials

At Y.O.U. Ministries, we believe access to God's Word matters, including for people who are incarcerated.

Our prison outreach helps provide Bible study materials and opportunities for individuals to explore Scripture, ask questions, and receive encouragement.

Ambyre's testimony gives us a glimpse of what that can look like.

She describes weekly Bible studies that explore challenging questions about faith and Scripture. Rather than avoiding difficult subjects, the studies encourage participants to examine biblical passages and seek understanding.

For Ambyre, that approach opened the door to a deeper appreciation of stories she had known for years.

She began seeing connections between passages and understanding more about the message of the Bible as a whole.

But her testimony also teaches us something important: the materials are only one part of the ministry.

The friendship, patience, and consistent encouragement offered by people like Lisa are just as meaningful.

Hope for the Road Ahead

At the time she wrote her testimony, Ambyre was looking forward to going home that year.

She described Y.O.U. Ministries as a constant source of support during the preceding year, a season when she was preparing for another chapter of life.

We don't know every detail of what came next, and we won't pretend to. But we can celebrate the hope, encouragement, and spiritual growth she shared with us.

Her experience reminds us that people deserve to be treated with dignity, listened to with compassion, and encouraged in their walk with Christ, regardless of their circumstances.

Why We Reach Beyond Prison Walls

Jesus spoke about caring for people who are often overlooked, including those in prison.

In Matthew 25:36, He identifies visiting those in prison as an expression of care.

For Y.O.U. Ministries, that calling includes helping incarcerated individuals receive Scripture-centered resources and meaningful encouragement.

We want people to know that their questions matter, that they can continue learning, and that their circumstances do not place them beyond the reach of God's love.

Ambyre's story reminds us why that work is worth doing.

A Thank-You to Those Who Walk Alongside Others

We're grateful that Ambyre chose to share her testimony with our ministry family.

We're also grateful for Lisa and others who give their time to encourage people through Scripture, friendship, and patient mentorship.

These are the relationships that help make Y.O.U. Ministries more than a collection of Bible studies.

They remind us that ministry happens when people care for people.

And sometimes, the most important gift we can offer is the assurance that someone is willing to walk alongside them.
