5 Happiness Hacks That Will Brighten Your Day!

With everything going on in the world today it is easier than ever to get caught up in the fear and negativity and lose sight of the things that make us happy. It's so imperative that we take time to slow down and look for the good in all the pandemonium. So, I have compiled a list of things that I, personally, do; things that make me happy and help me re-center, things that bring me out of the darkness.
My prayer is that whatever you are going through that you can use some of my suggestions and find happiness in your daily life - regardless of your circumstances.

1. Thankfulness/ Prayer

Every morning when I wake up the first thing I do -before anything else - I pray. I find things to be grateful for (sometimes it's just the oxygen in my lungs and sometimes the list is endless) and I thank the Lord for those things. I remember God's promises and who HE SAYS I AM. I am LOVED. CHERISHED. CHOSEN. Then I ask God to open my eyes and keep me focused on Him, to help me as I go into my day. For God to help me to be happy and spread joy to those that I encounter.  Get our FREE printable; 10 Steps to a Happier Morning Kit

2. Act of Kindness

One thing that brings me a lot of happiness is GIVING. I love to give and serve others. Sometimes its just a small act of kindness, like making coffee for my spouse, sometimes it is paying it forward and paying for the car behind me in the drive through.  Sometimes it is a hug or a smile to a stranger.

However, the person that sometimes needs kindness the most, is us.  So, take a warm bath, listen to music, read a good book, meditation, exercise; whatever that may look like, whatever it is... take care of yourself. You are created just how God wanted you to be. Embrace your uniqueness and the talents that God gave you.

3. Find Joy in the Little Things

There are so many 'little things' in life that God gave us to enjoy: the sun shine, flowers blooming,  birds singing,  the smiles and laughter of children,  music, art, sweet and savory flavors...

The first morning stretch, first sip of coffee, the first deep breath of fresh air after being inside all day.

The gentle sigh of a sleeping baby, the hug of a child (there is something magical about little arms wrapped around your neck), and a tiny voice saying, 'I love you'. Or how about the moment when you climb into your bed at the end of the day...

Look for the good. Focus on the good. Cherish the good...

4. Fake it until you Make it

Put a smile on your face. Smile until the smile becomes real. Dig deep within yourself and find that thing that brings out the joy in your heart. Happy thoughts. But still easier said than done sometimes. Scripture can be your best friend when you are feeling down. Simply pick up your Bible, pray for God to lead you to what you need and then bask in God’s Word until He has eased your heart. Your best bet for any crisis is to seek the Father’s guidance and let Him console you. He anxiously wait’s for us each day to seek Him and fellowship with Him…after all that is why He made us, for the fellowship!

5. Then my favorite

A nice glass of wine with a good friend always does my heart good. Don't get me wrong, the wine is nice, but it's who I share it with that really brings me joy.

It does not have to be wine either. It can be coffee, a movie, walk in the park, a game, or currently its more common for us to have a long video chat through Facebook or Zoom.

God created us to be in fellowship with Him and fellowship with others. We are meant to enjoy the relationships that He has blessed us with. So, reach out and take advantage of the heart God gave us for other people. Visit with a friend and laugh and cry and find the little things together that God has given us to fill us with joy and happiness.
